Open There support

Quick setup

1. Install Open There from the same App Store product on your iPhone or iPad and your Mac.
2. Sign both devices in to the same Apple Account for iCloud.
3. Open the Mac app once and leave its menu-bar receiver running.
4. Open the iPhone or iPad app. A single Mac connects automatically; with multiple Macs, choose a default or Ask Every Time.
5. Share a webpage from any app and choose Open There. Depending on the Mac setting, the link will open in your browser or appear in Read Later.

Send a page from the Share Sheet

1. Open an http or https page in Safari or another app.
2. Tap Share.
3. Choose Open There.
4. If Ask Every Time is enabled, choose the Mac where this link should be sent.
5. If it is not visible, choose More and add Open There to your favourites.

If your Mac does not appear

• Confirm both devices use the same iCloud account—not only the same App Store purchase account.
• Open the Mac app once and leave its menu-bar receiver running.
• Open the iPhone or iPad app and pull down to refresh.
• Leave the Mac menu-bar receiver running; its fallback check runs every 10 seconds.
• If the Mac has been offline for more than 30 days, launch it once so it can register again.

If a link says Queued for Mac

The link is safely waiting because iCloud was temporarily unavailable. Restore connectivity and open the iPhone or iPad app; it will retry the durable outbox. iOS controls background timing, so an offline retry cannot be guaranteed within a fixed number of minutes.

If a link has not arrived

• Open the Mac popover and check Read Later. In Settings, confirm whether new links are set to open automatically or stay in Read Later.
• Quit and reopen the Mac app to reconnect immediately.
• Confirm your default browser can open ordinary web links.
• Only absolute http and https links with a valid host are accepted.
• Links containing an embedded username or password are rejected for safety.

Read Later and the unread count

These are Open There Pro features. Open the Mac popover, choose Settings, and set new links to Save to Read Later. The links list lets you search, filter, sort, open, mark read or unread, copy, and delete links. Saved links start unread; links opened automatically start read. Opening an unread link marks it as read after your browser opens successfully.

The menu-bar icon can show how many unread links are waiting. Turn Show unread count off in Settings if you prefer an icon without a number.

Free and Open There Pro

The iPhone and iPad app, unlimited sharing, automatic browser opening, destination selection, and Ask Every Time are free. Open There Pro adds Save to Read Later, unread counts, and advanced list tools to the Mac app.

Pro is offered only in the Mac app as a low-cost yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Use Restore Purchases in the Mac Pro screen after reinstalling or when the Mac does not recognize the purchase.

If a yearly subscription ends, existing links remain available to open, copy, and delete. New links return to automatic opening.

Open at login

In the Mac popover, enable Open at login. macOS may ask you to approve the item in System Settings. This setting is optional and can be disabled at any time.

Privacy and pending links

URLs are stored temporarily in your private iCloud database and removed after the Mac safely processes them. Delivered links remain in one local, user-manageable list on that Mac; saved links are unread and automatically opened links are read. The list is not synced by Open There. Queued links retry automatically when you reopen the iPhone or iPad app. Read the complete Privacy Policy.
